A rapper born in Morocco. A mother who crochets by hand in Marrakech. One jacket that brought them together. This is the story of the Montana Jacket, and of the hands that actually made it.
It started at a kitchen table in Marrakech
The Montana Jacket did not come out of a design studio. It came out of a family home in Marrakech, where Saadia Bounjema has been crocheting for most of her life.
She works panel by panel, by hand, the way she was taught. No machine is involved at any point. Every square is made individually, then assembled, then finished. A single jacket takes weeks.
Her son handles the rest: the design direction, the colours, the world outside. She handles the craft. That division has not changed since the brand started.

Why Moroccan crochet is not just a technique
In Morocco, crochet sits closer to a language than to a craft. The motifs carry meaning, the colours carry mood, and both are passed down from one generation to the next in cities like Marrakech, without ever being written down anywhere.
What makes it impossible to industrialise is also what makes it valuable. Every stitch is placed by a person. Tension varies slightly from one panel to the next, so two jackets from the same design will never be exactly alike. That is not a defect to correct. It is the proof.

When French Montana saw it
French Montana was born in Morocco. When he came across the jacket, nobody had to explain the story to him. He recognised the work immediately, because he grew up around it.
What followed was not a sponsorship deal. It was two Moroccans meeting through their craft: one who works with words and rhythm, the other with thread and needles. The jacket that came out of it carries both.
Since then he has worn our pieces on stage, including the Black & White Jelaba, which is a strange destination for something made quietly at a kitchen table in Marrakech.

Wearing a jacket that carries a story
This is not a piece you wear to blend in. It is a tribute to Moroccan mothers and to a kind of talent that usually stays invisible, done at home, without credit, for decades.
It is also a nod to the Moroccan diaspora, to everyone who carries their origin openly through music, art or the way they dress.
Because each jacket is crocheted individually, we make very few, and the ones that sell out rarely come back.
